MercedesTrophy Dealer Golf Day

The annual Coutts Newmarket MercedesTrophy Dealer Golf Day was hosted at the Remuera Golf Club in Auckland on Friday 17th March 2017.

The field of 104 golfers comprised an exclusive group of loyal Mercedes-Benz owners, and guests with a passion for golf. The eligible Mercedes-Benz owners were all vying for the opportunity to represent the dealership at the MercedesTrophy New Zealand National Final, which will be staged at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, from 28 – 30 April 2017.

After 18 holes of close competition on a day perfect for golf, 6 eligible overall winners were announced, and will represent the dealership at the MercedesTrophy New Zealand National Final.

Winner on the day was Remuera local Trish Dickey scoring 41 points. Unfortunately, Trish was not aware of her prize until later in the evening after having to depart early for a weekend away. Trish’s win also marked the first 9-hole golfer to qualify for a National Final after the MercedesTrophy Tournament Rules were changed in 2017 in line with NZ Golf to keep promoting golf to all levels of golfers.

In second place was Hope Jung from Aviation Golf Club on 39 points. Hope a previous winner of the Coutts Tournament had attended the National Final at Millbrook in 2012 so was again able to qualify in 2017. Third place was taken out by Ainslie Smaill from The Grange Golf Club on 39 points. In fourth and fifth place on 37 points were Whitford Park members Peter Chen and Cameron Fisk. The final qualifying place was Alistair Bisset from Howick Golf Club on 36 points on countback edging out 3 other women golfers who also scored 36 points.

As part of the Drive to the Major Competition, a Straightest Drive competition is also held on the day. The 1st hole at Remuera was chosen for this competition. Unfortunately, this competition was compromised on the day with golfers mistaking the format as Long Drive so the $500 Trelise Cooper voucher was given out by a lucky draw with Ross Allen, a delighted recipient.

A special lucky draw award from sponsor, Cathay Pacific was awarded to Keith McCracken for his knowledge on the new Cathay Pacific routes into New Zealand.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants for a wonderful day on the course, and wish our six winners the best of luck as they represent the Dealership at the MercedesTrophy National Final.
